Today is another snow day. I think it is a tad bit much- it doesn't seem like the roads are too terrible but what the heck? Might as well make the best of it! Lela was up at the crack of dawn - go figure, right? She made herself comfy downstairs and was all snuggled in warm blankets enjoying some morning cartoons. I wonder if today we will all end up going stir crazy?

Snow Day! :D
The girls get a snow day today and believe me, they are excited! We haven't had too many this year so far and compared to last year it has been a pretty mild winter (in regards to snowfall accumulation, anyway). Becca decided to enjoy a game of Mahjong Tiles on the computer. I decided to photograph her.

Winter Weather Storm
It has been freezing drizzling all day and sometime late afternoon it started spitting snow. The schools have already cancelled for tomorrow. Steve has shoveled the driveway once and mostly because the snow we have gotten is drifting because of the blowing winds. It seems like our driveway is a snow catcher because we have more snow accumulated on our drive than the other drives in the circle (go figure, right?!). We are expecting 6-8 inches but my family in IL is expecting 18-24 inches (which sounds like last year's winter here). Tomorrow should be interesting. I know Becca will be a good sport and help shovel tomorrow if need be- she is such a good helper! I do believe hot cocoa will be on tomorrow's agenda.

Old Man Winter Strikes Again! ..or Why God Made Teenagers
The girls had a snow day today! They were so excited! I guess all that wishing and finger crossing paid off! I really can't complain; it is the first snow day of this school year. I'd say we're not doing too shabby this winter.
Of course, with snow days comes shoveling and Operation Why God Made Teenagers. Becca was such a trooper! She shoveled our driveway TWICE and then tackled the neighbor's drive. I was so proud of her! She had the best attitude all day long. I think it's because of all that hard work and the warm fuzzies she got from doing something kind for somebody else.

"They say there is always magic in the air.....On Broadway"
Okay, so yesterday, January 15, 2010 was my "Broadway Night Out"...aka BNO. About four times a year, four of us, myself and three of my girlfriends, take in a Broadway show. We start the evening off with dinner and drinks and then off to the Orpheum we go to see whatever Broadway Series we have purchased tickets for that particular season.
If I were a Broadway critic, I would have given last night's performance two thumbs down. I wanted to like "Little House on the Prairie", I really did....but no dice. Even Melissa Gilbert as "Ma" was a real disappointment. We cut out of there at intermission. When I say "we cut out", it should read "we ran like lightening".
One thing that wasn't a dud was the evening out with my good friends. We had a ball. Our Broadway nights are fun evenings filled with lots of laughter. I am always a little sad when the night comes to an end. I don't want the fun to stop!
Thanks Frenchie, Queeng and "Yea, well I met Archie Bunker". I had a ball!

"Baby It's Cold Outside".....
Oh lovely Nebraska. How I so do NOT adore thee this time of year. Old Man Winter really has it out for us, I do believe. What have we done to upset him so? I haven't the faintest clue but he has successfully chilled me to the bone. *brrrr* I am shivering now as I update this blog. I was contemplating sharing an image of the front of our igloo- I mean house- but my fingers were almost frozen off in the process. I decided if I didn't have fingers I wouldn't be able to do a number of things, one of them being this 365 project. I dashed inside and decided the best plan of attack to give Old Man Winter the finger (whilst keeping it attached to my hand) was to de-ice myself and get the blood flowing back into my frozen digits. I accomplished this by sitting in front of the warm fireplace. I do love a warm fireplace; especially when it is "14 degrees" outside. (That tidbit of icy information is according to the last time I checked the hourly weather update...I think they forgot the " - " in front of the 14 or are just very skilled in lying or perhaps they are in downright plain ol' denial. Regardless, they're not fooling me!) Hope you stay warm and cozy tonight. Btw, little Lela kept me company while I was warming up. <3
